About Us
Circus Astra is the sound of two old bandmates refusing to stay quiet.
Born from the wreckage of a late-’90s band and the loss of a longtime frontman, Robbie Darke and Alexis Martin, a veteran Montreal session drummer and composer, write raw, cinematic alt-rock with industrial teeth and a dance-floor pulse. Their debut album, Sunset, follows the human cost of a world run by machines and the men who build them.
Four singles arrive in 2027. Step inside.
The Sound
Circus Astra lives where post-grunge grit meets industrial menace and dark, danceable rock. Live drums and guitars collide with keyboards and programming, so the songs feel organic and synthetic at once, human and not quite. Fans of Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Talking Heads and Nick Cave will feel at home.
The STORY
The band’s founding members scattered when their first group collapsed in the late ’90s music-industry crash. In 2023, the death of their longtime frontman brought Robbie and Alexis back together, and they turned to music, not for fame, but for survival. What came out was unfiltered and fierce: songs for anyone who has stared into the void and is still here to sing about it.
The World of Sunset
Sunset is a concept album. Its eleven songs trace the rise and fall of the Übermensch, a tech titan in his castle, through the eyes of the people who live in his shadow. Along the way it takes on artificial intelligence, power, tribalism, and what it means to stay human. Expect songs like “Silicon Valley Psychopath,” “This Sick Parade,” and “My Muse Is Dead”: some furious, some funny, all with a story to tell.
Robbie Darke writes, plays guitar and keys, and sings. Alexis Martin adds the drive and the pulse with all things rhythm, as well as keys & samples.
